Meet our incredible mentees at Perspectives Photo School! Each of these talented young photographers brings a unique perspective and passion for storytelling through images. As part of our mentorship program, they are refining their technical skills, exploring their artistic vision, and building a strong foundation for their photographic journey. Through group field trips, studio classes, and one-on-one mentoring, they’re pushing their artistry to new heights. We’re thrilled to support and showcase their growth—get to know them below!

Alonzo Clark - Spring 2025
He/Him
Alonzo is a 19 year old photographer from Antioch, California. As a gamer, Alonzo’s eyes were opened to thepower of nature through his hands on work with AcE (American conservation experience) in California where he experienced the outdoors in a very significant way. This sparked Alonzo’s interest in photography and he now enjoys creating impactful images of how humanity impacts nature and how nature impacts us.

Asa Charney-Weintraub - Fall/Spring 2024/25
He/Him
Asa, a 15-year-old photographer from Berkeley, California, is constantly exploring new experiences, whether through games, sports, food, or adventures. Through his photography, he endeavors to weave narratives into each photo or series, capturing the essence and beauty of diverse subjects—from sports action and family gatherings to travel scenes and landscapes. With a keen curiosity and deep passion, Asa aims to reveal the everyday world's beauty from fresh and distinctive viewpoints.

Eva Breslin - Fall/Spring 2024/25
She/Her
Eva is an Oakland born high school student. she enjoys art forms of all kinds but her favorites are poetry, photography, and music. Her pictures aim to bring out beautiful subjects which may go unnoticed and tell a story. She enjoys portrait photography, and is largely inspired by Justine Kurland.

Simon Scurlock - Fall 2024
He/Him
Simon Scurlock is a 16-year-old photographer and athlete with over two years of experience behind the camera. A dedicated baseball player and student at Berkeley High School, he's currently working on a photography website and producing a documentary about his school’s baseball team. In his spare time, Simon focuses on shooting sports, landscapes, and urban scenes. Through the Perspectives Mentorship Program, he’s gained a stronger grasp of his camera’s technical capabilities and refined his editing process to create more polished, professional-looking work.
